History

The Object 490A is a prototype tank developed in 1984 with a 152mm gun and unmanned turret. The frontal armor is substantial, at 1 meter thick, and covered in reactive armor. Not very much information exists on the as most info on it is still classified but it is suspected to have a 6TD engine, a 3 man crew, protection against APFSDS and HEAT from the the front. Further testing and development most likely ceased due to the lack of funds and the decline of the Soviet Union, though this tank was one of several prototypes that influenced the design of the T-14 Armata.

Ingame

The Obj. 490A is a very strange tank design though this does reap it's benefits. For example the Obj. 490A has an amazing gun depression due to the exposed gun allowing it to crest ridges without revealing its bottom plate, even if the Obj. 490A doesn't have cover it still has alot of armor to back itself up. Though the gun may not do as much damage compared to other tanks at its level its reload makes up for that beating every other MBT to the punch.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Thick armor
  • Modest health pool
  • Fast reload

Cons

  • Gun is damaged easily
  • No smoke rounds
